We are very selective in the vineyards we will take on and manage. Our primary goal is to establish vineyard sites that fit in with our long term winemaking goals.
We plan on establishing a winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA both making and bottling Estate Wine. Until then we are managing select vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley that offer us the opportunity to raise premium grapes and make excellent wine using rented facilities.
For this reason we turn down more work than we take on. We generally only accept work if the location offers us the opportunity to work towards our long term vision.
We believe great wine is made in the vineyard, and we practice hands-on active viticulture. We strive to practice organic agriculture and fine-tune each vineyard with its surrounding environment. This intensive approach means that we usually will only take on one new project per year, so that we can devote full attention to each vineyard project.
We are active supporters of vineyards in our area and do want to encourage you with your project. As such we will answer every call and provide you with a free site review to help you start your project, even if we will not be involved in it.
One bit of advice we always leave people with is this:
Choosing a vineyard manager is not like picking a plumber. You will see this person in your yard 25-40 times a year for the next 10-15 years. Make sure the person you choose is someone you trust and someone you can work with over the long haul.
